What is wayapa wuurrk?

Wayapa Wuurrk is an Earth Connection Wellness practice based on ancient Indigenous wisdom. It combines earth mindfulness, narrative meditation and physical movement.

By including EARTH into MIND, BODY SPIRIT we can truly create holistic wellbeing & sustainability.

Wayapa Wuurrk translates to “Connect to the Earth” in the languages of the Gunditjmara people from South West Victoria and the Gunai people from Gipplsland Victoria.

Wayapa was created by Aboriginal senior knowledge holder Jamie Thomas & his partner Sara Jones and is gaining significant recognition as “Australia’s Yoga”

"I believe that we are all Earth people, some are just more disconnected than others. As a descendant of the Original Custodians, it is my responsibility to share my connection to the Earth as my Ancestors did and teach others how to respect and care for it, to heal it and let it heal us.

So that is why I created Wayapa."

Wayapa is a lifestyle of reconnection, reigniting our innate connection to mother earth and all the elements that she has in order to create balance in our planet.

As humans we have become blinded to her signals, her guidance and to her health. We are bogged down in consumerism and thinking in systems that we often forget the true nature of our spirit. We forget that our oneness is with every single living, breathing organism on this earth and that we have a responsibility to care for that.

My Aboriginal ancestors lived off the land, in harmony with the environment, understanding every element, every purpose, every cycle. They took no more than they needed to survive and with every action would give thanks to the gifts of mother earth through song, dance, ceremony and ritual.

We can learn something from the oldest living culture in the world.

Are you ready to connect to mother earth on a deep and profoundly meaningful level? When we practice Wayapa we become embodied in deep listening and connection to the earth, spirit and self, through a flowing sequence of movement and meditation.

This is something truly special.

A fun fact: at the time of certification Wayapa Wuurrk was the only known Indigenous Wellness modality certified by the International Institute for Complementary Therapists.

Isn’t is strange and wonderful at the same time that these ancient concepts need validity like this? But what I see is potentially a world wide recognition of something so frigen beautiful! imagine the day that Wayapa rolls off the lips just like ‘yoga’ or’ thai Chi’ *heart eyes*

Here’s to our future generations.
